2026 Revolution: Renown Health & Kaiser Permanente Launch First Ever Kaiser Permanente Nevada!

A Game-Changing Partnership is Born

As more Californians make the move to Nevada, many bring with them a familiar question: Where’s Kaiser Permanente? Known for being one of California’s top health insurance providers, Kaiser stands out with its all-in-one care model—offering everything from routine doctor visits and specialty care to lab tests and prescriptions, all coordinated under one system. For many transplants, it’s more than just an insurance plan—it’s a way of navigating healthcare that feels seamless, efficient, and familiar.

Until recently, Kaiser didn’t offer health plans to Nevada residents. But that’s about to change.

In a major announcement set to reshape healthcare in the state, Hometown Health and Kaiser Permanente are joining forces to launch a new insurance option: Kaiser Permanente Nevada. While the partnership is still pending regulatory approval, the health plan is expected to roll out next year, marking Kaiser’s first significant entry into the Nevada market.

In northern Nevada—where healthcare costs have historically been high and provider options relatively limited—this partnership could introduce much-needed competition and innovation to the region. This exciting partnership aims to create more affordable care options right here at home for both employers and residents across northern Nevada.

More Access, more Quality, More Local

Though much remains to be finalized, the announcement is generating buzz—and with good reason. Kaiser Permanente Nevada could mark the beginning of a new era for healthcare in the Silver State, aligning with growing demand for high-quality, affordable, and integrated care.

This partnership means more access to high-quality care while keeping services local,” said Dr. Brian Erling, President and CEO of Renown Health.

As an HMO, Kaiser Permanente is widely recognized for offering some of the most cost-effective health plans on the market. What sets Kaiser apart is its fully integrated care model, which keeps most medical services in-house—meaning that insurance, primary care, specialty care, lab services, and even pharmacies operate under one coordinated system.

This “one-stop shop” approach to healthcare is not just about convenience—it’s also a key reason why Kaiser is able to keep costs down. By minimizing the need for outside referrals and third-party providers, Kaiser reduces administrative overhead and streamlines treatment decisions. This efficiency is especially valuable in high-cost areas like prescription medications, where having an internal pharmacy network allows for better pricing control and formulary management.

Additionally, Kaiser’s model enhances care coordination, as doctors, nurses, and specialists all share access to the same electronic health records. This allows for more informed decision-making, fewer duplicated tests, and faster follow-ups—ultimately leading to better health outcomes and a more seamless experience for patients.

Through this partnership, Kaiser will take a significant ownership role in Hometown Health, Renown’s insurance division. The collaboration will bring advanced technology, national expertise, and expanded resources to Nevada’s only locally based, not-for-profit health insurer–Hometown Health.

Bethany Sexton, CEO of Hometown Health, noted that partnering with a national organization allows for investment in technology and care platforms, supporting both individuals and employers facing rising healthcare costs.

Clinics, Careers, & Community Growth

Looking ahead, the plan includes three new clinics within the next three years, expanding access to specialties, diagnostics, pharmacy services, and more—bringing fresh jobs and opportunities to the community.

Kaiser Permanente CEO Greg Adams, who has roots in northern Nevada, expressed excitement about returning and contributing to local growth and innovation.

For now, there will be no immediate changes to Hometown Health or Senior Care Plus plans during the transition period through 2026. If approved by the Nevada Department of Insurance, Kaiser Permanente Nevada will officially launch in 2027, exclusively partnering with Renown.
