Medicare Part D vaccines at no cost

Medicare Part D Vaccines at No Cost to You

The Inflation Reduction Act implemented several cost-saving measures to make healthcare more affordable for everyone in the United States. One of the changes implemented in January of 2023, eliminated cost-sharing for all adult Medicare Part D vaccines. Here’s what that means for you.

New Prescription Drug Law in Effect

With the implementation of the Inflation Reduction act on January 1, 2023, Medicare Part D members no longer have to worry about cost-sharing on covered prescription drugs. This change will help anyone covered under Medicare Part D save money on their medication costs and improve access to affordable treatments.

If you have Medicare Part D and need a covered vaccine, you won’t pay anything out of pocket. You won’t have to worry about copays or apply a deductible for covered Medicare Part D vaccines!

More Medicare Part D Vaccines Covered

Along with the elimination of cost-sharing, the Inflation reduction act also added more covered vaccines to Medicare Part D programs. You won’t have to pay copays or deductibles for any vaccines that the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends, which include:

  • Shingles
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whopping cough) (Tdap)
  • RSV
  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B (if you’re low-risk for the virus)

And as always, Medicare Part D also covers flu shots, COVID-19 vaccines, and pneumococcal shots. According to data from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), more than 10 million people with Medicare have already received a free vaccine!

Talk to your doctor to find out which vaccines you should take to stay healthy. Because now, you won’t have to worry about costs when it comes to Medicare Part D vaccines.
