Rising healthcare costs across the country have led to increased health insurance premiums. Despite the cost, health insurance remains essential—it protects you from unexpected and potentially high medical expenses. For many people, it’s a non-negotiable part of their financial planning, even though premiums can be a significant monthly expense.
The Nevada Health Link Mission
To help overcome this challenge, the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange created Nevada Health Link—a state-run Marketplace designed to connect eligible Nevadans with affordable health insurance options. This resource is specifically for those who do not receive insurance through their employer, Medicaid, or Medicare.
Nevada Health Link is the only health insurance resource that can provide you with federal tax credits and subsidies to help lower the cost of your health insurance based on your income, location, and family size. Through Nevada Health Link, you can shop, compare, and enroll in qualified health plans that meet your needs and budget.
Getting Started
The first step in the process is to complete a financial application through Nevada Health Link. Submitting this application does not obligate you to enroll—it simply allows us to provide accurate pricing and available plan options. You may edit and resubmit your application as many times as needed if any changes are necessary.
For step-by-step guidance on creating your Nevada Health Link account, please watch this brief informational video. Be sure to follow all the steps shown in their entirety before contacting your broker to move forward with the process.
When to Enroll
You can shop for plans each year during the Open Enrollment Period, which runs from November 1 – January 15. Outside of this period, you may still qualify to enroll through a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). These events include, but are not limited to:
- Losing other health coverage
- Moving to a new service area
- Marriage/Divorce
- Birth or adoption of a child
To enroll using a SEP, you must report your QLE and select a plan within 60 days of the event. You may also need to provide documentation to verify your eligibility. To learn more, contact us today!
