Carson Valley Health is a major healthcare provider for residents of Carson Valley, Nevada and the surrounding areas. They provide comprehensive coverage for nearly any need. But unfortunately, they were not able to negotiate a new deal with Prominence Health, a leading health insurance provider in the area, causing them to terminate their contract. If you rely on Carson Valley Health for your healthcare needs, here’s what you need to know about the termination of the Prominence Medicare Advantage contract.
What is Prominence Health?
Prominence Health is a health insurance company that offers commercial and Medicare Advantage plans to residents and businesses throughout Northern Nevada. It’s a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States.
Many residents in Reno, Sparks, and other areas around Northern Nevada rely on Prominence Medicare Advantage healthcare coverage. Previously, Carson Valley Health was an in-network provider for Prominence, but that is all set to change after their contract ends in October 2025.
Prominence Medicare Advantage Terminates Carson Valley Contract October 16, 2025
After a thorough financial and clinical review, Prominence made the difficult decision to adjust its operations to maintain a sustainable, high-quality healthcare network in rural Nevada. They made it a priority to serve these communities rather than withdraw from the area completely, unlike some competitors.
Part of these adjustments is that Prominence wasn’t able to renew their contract with Carson Valley Health. Beginning October 16, 2025, Carson Valley Health will no longer be in-network for Prominence Medicare Advantage.
But despite terminating the contract, a company spokesperson affirmed that Prominence is still committed to staying in the community and is actively working to provide timely and appropriate care for its members.
What to do if you’re affected by Prominence Medicare Advantage contract termination
If you’re a Prominence Medicare Advantage member and use Carson Valley Health as your primary healthcare provider, it’s important to take action before the contract ends on October 16, 2025.
One option is that you could start looking for a healthcare provider that is still in network for Prominence Medicare Advantage. There are still in-network providers in the Northern Nevada area.
If you prefer to stay with Carson Valley Health, you could also start looking for an alternate Medicare solution. Carson Valley Health still accepts many major health insurance and Medicare plans.
