New OnMed CareStation in the Senior Center in Washoe County
The updates aren’t all aesthetic. One of the major improvements to the Senior Center in Washoe County is the brand-new OnMed CareStation, which is described as a “clinic in a box.”
The interior of the OnMed Care Station looks like a small doctor’s office. After a quick intake process, patients are virtually connected with an OnMed clinician for a live checkup using medical-grade diagnostic tools, like thermal imaging cameras and high-resolution video and audio.
Clinicians can provide e-prescriptions, treatment plans, specialist referrals, and mental health screenings right through the OnMed CareStation. It’s a great and easy way for area seniors to meet with a professional healthcare provider without needing to travel outside of Washoe County.
The OnMed CareStation was funded by a $400,000 donation from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Nevada Medicaid.
Photography art exhibit unveiled
The OnMed CareStation is good for your health, but art is good for the soul. That’s why as a part of their grand reopening, the Senior Center in Washoe County has also unveiled a new art exhibit called “Home Means Nevada.”
The art exhibit features work from 15 photographers showcasing Nevada’s natural beauty and heritage. The photography show is presented by the Nevada Arts Council and tied to the OAM Info Fair.
Come see the beauty of our state as seen through a photographer’s lens!
