Prominence Individual Health

Prominence Individual Health Insurance 2018

Prominence Individual Health Medical Insurance here in Reno, Nevada, has made the decision to exit the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange (www.NevadHealthLink.com) and the federal health insurance Exchange Marketplace (www.healthcare.gov) at midnight on December 31st, 2017.

This leaves just two health insurance Nevada companies operating on healthcare.gov for 2018

Health Plan of Nevada and Centene (aka Silver Summit). Only plans bought through Healthcare.gov use a subsidy, also known as a tax credit.

Prominence has announced that they will continue to pay claims. This is for individual and family health insurance members. They will pay claims through the last day of this year, but they will not be offering any new plans. They will also not renew any current plan, after January 1st, 2018.

If you are concerned about the continuation of your current individual health insurance plan, please give us a call today.  Health Benefits Associates has many other plans that can be issued before year-end, and, with changes to the monthly premium and benefit modifications, will be able to be renewed for coverage in 2018.

Prominence will begin their withdrawal process on July 1, 2017, and they will complete the process on December 31, 2017.

Their withdrawal will take effect for everyone that has a Prominence individual health or family plan in Nevada. No one will have the ability to continue their plan with Prominence individual Reno health insurance plan after December 31st, 2017.

Our Open Enrollment this year will take effect on November 1st, and December 15th. That means that during this 6 week period, current Prominence members can choose a different plan from a different company. These plans will go into effect for the 2018 plan year so don’t wait!

The Open Enrollment period is shorter this year. Our best advice will be to learn more about the other plans that are out there. You should know about other health insurance companies as soon as possible. This includes the new lists of contracted, in-network physicians offered by the other health insurance companies. Health Benefits Associates has access to all of the other health insurance company plans and doctor lists, and we would like to provide this information to you, with no charge, as soon as you are ready.
