Starting on January 1st, 2020 people can also get Renown Medicare Advantage plans through a newly available policy called the Renown Preferred Plan.
Renown also owns an insurance company called Hometown Health. Hometown Health offers health insurance plans to individuals and families. They also cover both small and large employers. When to Apply for Coverage
Most people sign up for Medicare coverage when they are initially eligible for Part A and Part B of Medicare. The federal government recommends looking at Medicare plans and starting the process 3 months prior to the 65th birthday. Some aspects of the initial eligibility are handled by the Social Security Administration. Medicare Advantage plans, Part D drug plans, and Medicare Supplement plans are purchased directly through private insurance companies. Also, people switch plans and enroll during the Annual Enrollment Period. The Annual Enrollment Period starts on October 15th and ends on December 7th.
